Monica V. Kantrowitz
Retail Experience
Lord and Taylor
Summer
1964,
Saturdays 1965, 1966
Worked in the Young New Yorker
department with 5-6 career sales associates; I outsold every one each Saturday.
Personal shopper -clothing
For many years I have assisted a wide variety of friends and
acquaintances, and , often, complete strangers, in shopping for clothes. For some
I have carte blanche, for others I accompany them on shopping trips.
Interior Decorator
I have been a professional decorator for many years, and for a while I opened and ran a very high end furniture and fabrics
emporium in Westport CT for wealthy consumers.
Other Professional Experience
Speech Pathologist
President, Queue,
Inc.
Responsible for all sales activities. Maintained personal
relationships with hundreds of customers.
Associate
on floor LORD AND TAYLOR " YOUNG NEW YORKER SHOP"
ASSISTANT
FOR MR Gerald BOYD-- VP OF ASS DRY GOODS
There were times that Mr Boyd removed
me from the floor and asked me todo some research exclsuively for him; this was
confidential work.
He also hired several fo my friends fro
Columbia, sight unseen to work for him
After having been gone from the store
for about 7 years, interviewed with him about returning to work in Lord
and Taylor; Mr. Boyd gave me a very enticing offer-- he would skip all
prelimianries and make me a full buyer inside of 1 year. I was unable, at
the time having 2 small young chidlren,to keep the hours necessary to fulfill
the requirements.
Years passed, and as I worked first as
a speech patholougist, and then in sales for QUEUE, I was repeatedly, and
still am, asked for advice in the design and decoration of
private homes and for advice in dressing both women and men.
I opened a very high end furniture and
fabrics emporium in Wesport Ct for wealthy consumers to take adavanatege of the
interior design inquiries.
For fun, I still do shop for
acquaitances, for some I have carte blanche, and for some-- including 1
gentleman ion wall st, i have gone with them personally.
