Statistics from Anna, Sarah, Peter, Steve.

Offer health newsletter? To dentists/chiro’s?
As a e-mail service with free-pass-on – for $36 or $8 a year?–
As public service if we do it for teachers?
Print version they can copy and distribute to patients?
As a health news column?

Is it worth investing $199 chiro and $249 dentists to buy lists which are largely duplicates but may have ? new names?

Test Prep Catalogue

Review two page spreads – what goes in test prep catalogue vs. curriculem state-by-state – review each statye’s sales - - review in light of packaging decisions above.

Rcview Proposed Curriculum Catalogue

How can we promote curriculum titles w/o sample mailings and with limited space for flyers in boxes?

Mailing plans

Review plans

Flyers?

Do we want to mail to Curriculum coordinators in districts where we don't have a name? Just assume that somebody in the district has that title or something close?
Respective quantities shown in chart in book.

Cut lists by school size or other criteria – mail biggest schools in marginal states?

37 mailings currently planned for the fall season:
20 boxes of 5 books/10 flyers,
7 boxes  of 2 books/ 4 flyers,
10 Sampler self-mailers

Contents of Box Mailings: If we stick with the titles in the two 5-book box mailings, there will not be room for the planned number of catalogues. The Curriculum Catalogue is now up between 44 and 48 pages. If the Test Prep catalogue stays at 24 pages, there will only be room for one curriculum and two Test Prep catalogues in the Middle School boxes, and perhaps three of each in the Elementary boxes.

The boxes we use accommodate a maximum of about 900 pages.

Middle School books:
Math Prob Solv 6                               196
Rdng Obj 7                        92
Math 7                              112
Science 8                         220
Reading Comp 8                             184
Total Pages                      804
Left for Catalogues                        96

Elementary books:
Math Prob Solv 4                               200
Rdng Obj 4                        68
Math 5                              112
Science 4                         136
Reading Comp 3                             176
Total Pages                      692
Left for Catalogues            208

Books in Mailing
We need to particularize mailings by what sells best in each state. Reading objectives doesn’t sell well in many states – what does? In ELA states we need to include an ELA book. In CT an Edit and Revise book. Florida composition? Sold great last year, not so far this year.

Literature in Context (White Fang) 2,500 copies in inventory. Put in a mailing?

Literature in Bloom (4th Grade Nothing) 2,000 copies in inventory. Mail to whom?
More than one mailing to best markets?

Flyers in Mailing
Should we include so many flyers? Cost between $.40 and $.50 each. Sending half as many flyers would save $2 – $2.50 / package, or $60,000 – $75,000 for the fall.

Mailing Location

Past Mailings

Complete report on all past mailings. Sales by state, by subject, per school.

Future Mailings

Plan August, December, March mailings – distinguish between best states, medium states, marginal states. Non-target states

         Mailing Lists
                  Principals vs. coordinators vs. customers

         Delivery Service
UPS vs. Post Office

Box Design/Packaging

                  Contents
                           Books, pamphlets, Letters

Try samplers or stand-alone catalogues again?

*The national K-12 standards work is expected to be completed in December 2009. Texas and Alaska now only states out. Implications?

Going digital:

*Hi Monica and Jon –
Last spring I ordered 400 CMT4 Prep Grade 8 Science workbooks. As we use them – I was wondering if you could send a digital (PDF, HTML, or MSWord) version of the book for use with our digital projectors and smart boards. It would come in handy, especially given the quantity of graphs and other pictures used in questioning…

Thanks for your consideration,
